Running for Hope: Supporting Hospivision Through the Knysna Half Marathon

Hospitals can be overwhelming places—sterile hallways, quiet waiting rooms, and the uncertainty that comes with illness. For many patients, these spaces become even more daunting when they face their battles alone. That’s why Hospivision volunteer Jess Shepherd is lacing up her running shoes and taking on the Knysna Half Marathon—not just for the challenge, but to raise funds for the people who need support, comfort, and hope.

Jess, a dedicated Hospivision volunteer at Steve Biko Academic Hospital, has seen firsthand the impact that emotional and spiritual care has on patients and their families. Hospivision provides counseling, companionship, and a listening ear during some of life’s toughest moments. Now, she’s using her passion for running to give back in a new way.

Running for a Cause

This year, Jess is running the Knysna Half Marathon to raise funds that will go directly toward supporting patients, families, and hospital staff. Her goal is to ensure that more people receive the comfort and care they deserve during difficult times.

How You Can Support Jess’s Fundraising Efforts

Every donation—whether monetary, toiletries, or books—contributes to Hospivision’s mission of bringing dignity and encouragement to those in need. Here’s how your support can make an impact:

  • Your donation can provide a comfort pack for a patient in distress.
  • Donating books offers a moment of escape and peace in a hospital bed.
  • Essential toiletries bring dignity to those facing long-term stays without support.

Jess is running for them—every step she takes is for those who can’t. Every contribution, big or small, brings hope and healing. Let’s do this together!

Join us in supporting Jess’s fundraising journey! Donate today and help bring hope to hospital beds.
