Religion and Spirituality in Healthcare Conference
Call for Abstracts
We invite researchers, scholars, and practitioners to submit abstracts for presentations at the Conference on Religion and Spirituality in Healthcare. While we encourage a broad range of topics related to religion and spirituality in healthcare, we have identified the key research questions below to guide the submissions. Presenters are invited to creatively interpret these questions, exploring them from different perspectives and disciplines, and to offer innovative solutions to the challenges faced in integrating spiritual care into healthcare practices.
We welcome diverse approaches, including empirical research, theoretical explorations, case studies, and practical applications. In addition, we encourage submissions that offer theological and philosophical inquiry, exploring the spiritual dimensions of healthcare, and examining the ethical, existential, or spiritual aspects of patient care. The goal is to stimulate discussions that not only contribute to the academic field but also provide actionable insights for healthcare practitioners, policy-makers, and faith-based organizations.
To what extent can spiritual and religious interventions complement conventional medical treatment, influence healthcare outcomes, and impact the holistic well-being of individuals in South Africa.
How can spiritual and religious beliefs, including harmful religious practices and views, influence the experience of illness, and how can a deeper understanding of these dynamics lead to improved patient care and better healthcare outcomes?
How can spiritual education and the personal spirituality of healthcare professionals influence their approach to patient care, and what impact does it have on the effectiveness of spiritual care interventions in healthcare settings?
How can interdisciplinary collaboration between healthcare, spirituality, and other fields, enhance the integration of spiritual care practices in healthcare and improve patient outcomes?
